Mike Nowlin, MSSA

Mike Nowlin, MSSA, LISW-S, has 25+ years' experience in child welfare, behavioral health, and international development. He is Director of Operations at the Institute for Human Services (IHS) and the Child Maltreatment Policy Resource Center. Mike helps organizations develop effective infrastructures, refine and streamline programming, and implement strategic plans to reach organizational goals. He recently co-authored the Issues in Brief, Prosecution and Registration of Youth with Problematic or Illegal Sexual Behaviors. Mike previously lived in SE Asia and served as the Executive Director at Hagar International's Cambodia office, supporting survivors of gender-based violence and human trafficking. While there, Mike spoke internationally and was published in several journals on topics of trauma informed care and resilience. He also helped implement a national project with the Cambodia Ministry of Justice to ensure child-serving attorneys and judges understood and incorporated best practices into the legal process when serving traumatized survivors of abuse and human trafficking. After returning to the United States, he became the Executive Director for Hagar's USA affiliate office. Prior to working overseas, Mike was an Associate Director at one of Ohio's largest public child protection agencies where his efforts improved youth and agency outcomes.
