The National Symposium on Sexual Behavior of Youth is  co-sponsored by the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, and  The Institute for Continuing Education.  The program offers up to 16.00 CE hours.  CE hours earned are  based on actual participation.  Full attendance is required for each approved event in which you participate.  The CE processing fee is $ 40.00 per person and may be paid with registration and/or on site.    Conference participants who wish to receive continuing education credit MUST check in at the continuing education desk to make formal application and receive CE materials for completion.  Staff at the CE desk will have a listing of attendees who pre-paid the CE processing fee.    

NOTE:  To receive continuing education credit, applicants must complete all CE forms, sign in/out at designated locations, and complete an evaluation of the sessions attended. CE verification is mailed to attendees following the Symposium..   

NOTE It is the responsibility of the attendee to determine if CE credit offered by The Institute for Continuing Education meets the regulations of their state licensing/certification board.  

Commercial Support:  The Institute for Continuing Education receives no funds from any commercial organization for financial support of its activities in providing continuing education sponsorship of this Symposium.  The Institute for Continuing Education’s sponsorship of this Symposium does not imply endorsement of featured exhibits.

  • Psychology: The Institute for Continuing Education is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Non-credit events will be clearly indicated on the ATTENDANCE LOGS.
    New York: The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Psychology as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed psychologists #PSY-0043. 
  • Counseling:  For counselors seeking CE credit, The Institute for Continuing Education has submitted a co-sponsorship application to NBCC for this program.  This website will be updated regarding accreditation by NBCC.   
    New York: The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors.  Provider MHC-0016.

  • Social Work: This program has been approved for up to  16.00 hours of social work continuing  education hours for re-licensure by the NASW-CO Chapter. Provider ICD 2019.

  • Marriage/Family Therapy
    New York: The Institute for Continuing Education is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed marriage/family therapists, Provider MHC-0012.
  • California Professionals:  The Institute for Continuing Education, Provider 56590, is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs.  The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.  This event meets  the qualifications for continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCC, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Nursing:   The Institute for Continuing Education is an approved provider of continuing education in nursing by the California Board of Nursing, Provider CEP 12646.  Nurses are responsible for checking with their state board to determine if credit issued through an approved provider of the CA Board of Nursing is acceptable by their state board.   
  • Non-U.S. Professionals:  The Institute for Continuing Education holds no CE provider status with Canadian or other non-U.S. licensing/certification boards.  It is your responsibility to check the regulations of your licensing/certification board to determine CE requirements for training activities.

Skill Level: Beginning, intermediate, advanced.   Participants are urged to review session description for appropriateness for professional and personal development.  

Instruction Methodology: May include lecture, audio-visual, demonstration, experiential practice of techniques, case examples, small/ large group discussions.

Ethics Hours / Academic Credit: It is the responsibility of participants to determine if workshops meet regulations of their licensing/certification board for “ethics hours”.  This Symposium offers no “academic” credit and CE hours awarded are not eligible toward fulfillment of a degree.
