The National Symposium on Sexual Behavior of Youth Planning Committee is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting nominations to recognize excellence in the field of problematic sexual behavior of youth.  Nominations are for individuals, organizations, or agencies that should be recognized for outstanding efforts in supporting the NSSBY goal as we effectively identify, monitor, prevent, educate, and intervene to address problematic sexual behavior of youth.

Nomination Categories

Distinguished Professional Award

This award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of problematic sexual behavior of youth and the advancement of the NSSBY's mission of keeping youth safe and healthy by effectively identifying, monitoring, preventing, educating, and intervening to address problematic sexual behavior.

Attributes to be considered:

  • Demonstrated leadership in their profession on addressing problematic sexual behavior of youth.
  • Strong leadership that brings a variety of individuals together, such as, philanthropy, researchers, professionals working collaboratively across multidiscipline, consumers of services and academicians, in seeking solutions for problematic sexual behavior of youth and community challenges.
  • Thoughtful decision maker that utilizes empirical findings when improving approaches to address
    problematic sexual behavior of youth.
  • Results-oriented professional and/or advocate who recognizes the values of tenacity and compromise
    when working towards long-term goals
  • Led efforts that have resulted in policy or practice change that have benefited youth with problematic
    sexual behavior and/or their families.
  • Made repeated, significant and outstanding contributions to research, services, or change in policy
    regarding youth with problematic sexual behavior during career.

Distinguished Service Award

This award recognizes an individual, organization, or agency that has made significant contributions to the advancement of prevention and intervention of problematic sexual behavior of youth.

Attributes to be considered:

  • Demonstrated significant impact for prevention and/or service provisions that have led to positive, data-supported outcomes.
  • Innovative partnerships that have improved prevention and/or services provided for youth with problematic sexual behavior and/or their families.
  • Utilized or developed a continual quality improvement practice to solve an ongoing programmatic problem.
  • Involved caregivers in a meaningful way in the creation or maintenance of the prevention and/or services provided.
  • Secured funding efforts or brought together multiple funding sources that support evidence-based practices for youth with problematic sexual behavior.
  • Through the press, television or film has advanced the public understanding of relevant issues regarding sexual abuse and youth with problematic sexual behaviors, as well as the role of effective treatment in risk management.
  • Had significant impact on the growth and development of professionals in the field through mentoring and clinical guidance to others.
Award Process
Select the most appropriate nomination category for your nominee.  Nominators may submit multiple nominations, however, individual, organization or agency can only be nominated for one category by single nominator.  Nominees will be evaluated and scored according to the specific attributes to be considered. 

The nomination submission must include:
  1. A nomination letter describing the nominee's attributes in the field of problematic sexual behavior of youth.
  2. Nominee's Curriculum Vitae or resume, or Organization/Agency annual report or brochure.
  3. Supporting Documents (i.e. additional letters, relevant journal articles, books, etc.)



Nominations must be received by October 11, 2024.
All award nominees, including those who made the nomination, will be notified of the outcome by December 1, 2024.

The awards will be presented to the recipients on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 during the NSSBY Welcome Session.
